Seeing Ami off to Hawaii

My two oldest ones pictured above before my son, Ami heads
off to Hawaii to work with my uncle. I'm so proud that Ami
has chosen to put in his papers to serve his mission this December.
A couple of weeks ago he received his Melchizedek priesthood
along with his bestie, Braxton Tuiono and it was a joyous time
for both our families.

My dad thought that it would be great for Ami to meet his
cousins in Hawaii and work with his uncle to save up for his
mission. Ami was kinda sad to leave, so am I. But, I believe
this will build his character. I told him it won't be that long.

His little brother told me last night that his big brother must
be homesick and that we should send him back home. I
agree, but we'll give him two weeks. If he doesn't like it there
we can always send him back. I miss him already and hope
he's making wise choices, helping out at the house and cleaning
up after himself.

Furlough Day Due to Budget Cuts

Loni comes home after school and tells me that
he has some really important papers to give me
and that I have to look at it immediately..teacher
says. So he hands me a November Calendar
Reminder and I see 5 days on there are Furlough
Days due to budget cuts..yikes. Starting today.
then Nov. 22nd through the 24. then Thanksgiving
Holiday.

I felt bad reading it and wished there was something
I could do to help out. So I started looking through
the closets for the Scholastic Phonics Kit we received
2 years ago and never put to use and let the kids test
out the new Steps to Scholastic Success Slide Show
Mathematics Grades 3-4 CD-Rom we received to
review for our Holiday Gift Guide on Luscious Deals.

I'm making sure that my kids learn what they have to
learn with all these furlough days adding up. Maybe
I went to extremes today but, I wanted to start a new
schedule that would be better for them in the long
run. Time on our new Wii game machine has been
cut down to half an hour instead of an hour. We're
now doing 2 rounds of 20 minute reading sessions
in the morning and afternoon. I'm trying to get more
ideas and have been surfing homeschooler blogs
most of the day, between cooking, cleaning and
blogging. I want to do more stuff like science and
studying about other countries. What do you think?

Packing Up...

I've been mia for a bit due to family changes
and more. Mothers day was good as the girls
came down again, this time it was to go back
with our items to Salt Lake. Our family has
been going through some changes for the
past two weeks and looks the children & I
will be heading down to Salt Lake and making
our new home there. As much as I don't like
it..it's a much needed change for dh and I.

I'll be going back to school and finding a
job there. So many goals I'd like to achieve
while I try to get back to a life of being able
to do things and work on improving myself.

Dh found out yesterday by phone while at
work. We had several different women
claiming to be linked to him either by him
supporting them with $$ or having a child
with him.

Five of them from January til now..which
has brought me to my decision to walk
away while I'm still sane..and never mind
all the counseling we've been getting from
our bishop at church.

We had a very tearful family home evening
last night. We each said our sorry and the
kids sat there with tears in their eyes and
understood the reason why I had to leave
with them. Dh wanted to let us know that
the door will always be open to us again
and that he will come down to visit the
little ones often.

I'm excited for what the future holds for
us there. Hopefully good things.

Eating Out - vs Cooking at Home

Yesterday we were debating about eating out
and cooking at home after viewing Fox 12 News
and how a deputy is suing Burger King over a
22 yo male employee who spit in his burger.
This deputy had a bad feeling about his burger
and decided to check his burger after these two
employees were acting funny toward him. He
did a DNA testing on the human spit and it linked
back to this 22 yo employee..
Check out the video:

We rarely go to restaurants and eat out. Once
in a while we'll go to treat the kids and avoid
cooking for a day. But after watching this
horrible incident. I am glad that we cook our
meals at home. Dh mostly eats out with his
workers after a hard day pouring concrete.

Which usually is a break for me. Meaning
I don't have to make two different dinners
for us and separately for him, he loves his
polynesian meals while we choose hamburger
helper, or sandwiches on some nights.

Where do you stand on eating out versus
cooking at home?
